Meet Kristin, our fabulous Bridalista-in-training and management intern! Moving to the city can be an overwhelming transition, but she has been adapting so well and always brings her smile to work every day at Blue! We love to see her light up when working with brides and her organizational skills behind the counter are no less than amazing! We are so lucky to have her at Blue; we would be lost without her!
Where are you from?
I am from a town called Ellicot, CO, it’s east of Colorado Springs, and it’s mostly farmland. After I graduated from high school, I attended school in Fort Collins at Colorado State University, and I graduate in May!
What is your major in college and why?
I am majoring in Apparel and Merchandising with a minor in Business Administration. It’s a very fun and unique industry; I love that’s constantly changing, evolving and recycling fashion trends. There are so many unique careers that are in fashion that many people overlook!
If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would it be and why?
Betty White. Because I could play pranks on people and get away with it, and I could experience the lime light as an elder, and really appreciate the wonder years!
If you weren’t living in Colorado, where would you live and why?
ALABAMA! My mom is from there, and most of my family still lives there, I love to go visit. It’s a completely different culture and scenery than Colorado, I love the Southern atmosphere, and I am a HUGE Alabama fan! Plus the food is *amazing* and sweet tea doesn’t hurt! ROLL TIDE! 😉
What do you love most about working for Blue Bridal?
It’s hard to pick one thing! I think what’s best is when you get to meet all the brides and their guests and once they find the dress they love most, you instantly see how their body language changes and everything *clicks* for them! It’s very special to partake in this moment!
Which is your favorite dress and designer in store?
My favorite designer would be Tara Keely. Her designs are so fresh and modern, and she offers many different silhouettes. My favorite dress is also from the Tara Keely collection, style 2458. I love how the satin is so fitted and has the perfect sweet heart neckline. It’s a little sexy but not overdone, and I love the added sash, the bling gives it the perfect touch in balance with the dramatic skirt!
What do you like to do in your free time?
Watching Netflix, I like working out and doing yoga, I am a dancer for the Wild Bunch for the Colorado Mammoth lacrosse team – dance takes up most of my free time!
How has being part of the team at Blue influenced you and your career path?
Blue has definitely encouraged me to learn new things, how to step out of my comfort zone, and embrace new challenges of understanding the real world. I was surprised how much I enjoy bridal; it opened my eyes up to a completely different experience outside of what I’ve seen in pageants. I know my experiences here will definitely benefit my future career goals, especially when I get engaged!
Kittens or Puppies?
Puppies! Because cats are planning to take over the world – in a bad way.
Veil or birdcage?
Veil. The veil makes the bride. There are so many different options; you can go super traditional with having the blusher to “unveil” the bride. Or you can go modern with it just laying eloquently behind you. I love the different varieties that they come in, with the many trims and lengths for the bride to choose her perfect style!
What is one talent you wish you had?
Facial skills. I have no facial skills. Meaning, I can’t raise one eyebrow, flare my nostrils, wiggle my ears, wink or any cool tongue tricks! I have been trying to accomplish these skills for 7 years now, and no such luck.
